Welcome to The Art Studio

The Art Studio, offers a safe, supportive community to people with short to long term mental ill health. Although the primary activity is art ,the sense of community, structure and routine offered by The Art Studio can have a lasting effect on how people deal with their mental health. The Art Studio offers core activities of painting and printmaking as well as a variety of art activities which tend to be on a short term basis.

Q. Why should I come to the Art Studio?

A. Because you deserve it!

A. The Art Studio has a lot of really interesting things that you can do, from making an etching to building a pot in clay to painting a huge colourful painting. All materials are free and there will always be at least one professional artist on hand to give you support and advice.

 

Q. I get very nervous and sometimes feel quite panicky this makes me unsure about star ting something new.

A. Most people who come to the Art Studio are very nervous at first but they soon learn that everyone else understands how they are feeling and that makes it easier.

 

 

Q. I haven’t done any art since I was at School would I still be able to come to The Art Studio?

A. You would be surprised at just how many of our members had not done any art for a long time, at The Art Studio there is always someone there to give a hand and the art workshops are for a range of people from those who are just beginning to those who have been to art college and need some support to get back to their art.

 

And that’s not all...

A. You will meet people who have had similar experiences to you in a friendly environment. Once you get involved you will find that you are the person who is reassuring a new member.
